Prayer Shawl Ministry
Wednesday Night at 6:15 P.M. in The Go Class
The Prayer Shawl Ministry exists to give solace and comfort to those in need by the making and giving of Prayer Shawls. They are meant to wrap and enfold the wearer in God's unconditional love in times of sorrow and joy.
It all started at FUMC when Debbie Wilson, a former FUMC member, received a prayer shawl from a church in another state. Debbie was so moved and comforted by it, that she decided to start a similar ministry at FUMC in April 2005. In the years since, countless shawls have prayerfully been made and given away to those in need. Many other members of our church have donated gifts to purchase yarn and materials needed to make the shawls. Those of us who make the shawls, either knit or crochet them at home and once a week when we meet.
For Prayer Shawl Requests, contact Faye Beckett, our congregational care director, at the church office at 476-9694.
